SPECIALTY COFFEE

"Specialty coffee" is the term commonly used to refer to the highest grade of coffee that ranks above “premium.” According to the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), only coffees with scores 80 points or above on a 100-point scale are graded as "specialty." Specialty coffees are usually grown high in mountains under the most ideal climates, and are distinctive because of their full cup taste with close to no defects. The unique flavors and tastes are a result of the special characteristics and composition of the soils in which they are produced. Voltaire Coffee House serves true specialty coffees that meet the SCAA standards.
